Prism 10.1.2

Prism 10.1.2 was released on December 14, 2023.

This Windows-only release of Prism fixes an issue that began occurring after a recent Windows update and resulted in an error when trying to open embedded (OLE) Prism objects in Microsoft Office applications.

WebView2 is a component developed and maintained by Microsoft, and allows desktop applications to incorporate different types of code and related functionalities. This component is installed on all modern Windows devices, and is used by all Prism versions starting with 9.3.0.

After the Windows update on December 7, 2023 (WebView2 Build 120.0.2210.61), attempting to access embedded Prism files in Microsoft Office documents resulted in an error being displayed when trying to access these embedded files. One such error message (displayed when attempting to access embedded files from PowerPoint) is as follows:

The server application, source file or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application

Other alerts from other Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) may have somewhat different wording, but are all caused by the same issue that is fixed with this release.

General Improvements

  • (Win) Fixed the issue in which an alert was displayed when accessing an embedded (OLE) Prism object from within a Microsoft Office application (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • (Win) Fixed the issue in which copy/pasting from Prism into a Microsoft Office application (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) failed or generated an alert/error
