The Error bars GDO draws error indicators centered on a summary value for each group. The error type determines both the summary value used as the center point and the range shown by the bars. Error bars can extend above, below, or in both directions from the center.

Error bar type
The Error bar type option specifies both the center value and the range shown, and can be set independently for each group. The available error types are:
•Mean with SD
•Mean with SEM
•Mean with CI
•Mean with range
•Geometric mean with geometric SD
•Geometric mean with CI
•Median with range
•Median with CI
•Median with interquartile range
When a CI-based error type is selected, the Confidence level option specifies the interval width as a percentage.
Appearance
The following options can be set independently for each group:
•Cap style: controls the cap drawn across the end of each error bar. Options are None, Short, and Long.
•Direction: controls which direction the error bars extend from the center. Options: Both, Above only, Below only.
•Stroke thickness: line thickness in points.
•Stroke style: options are Solid, Dash, Dot, DashDot, and DashDotDot.
Color settings
Color settings apply to the GDO as a whole. Error bar stroke color can be defined in three ways:
•Single color: all error bars use one stroke color.
•Continuous variable: a gradient colormap is applied based on a summary statistic (Mean, Median, or Geometric Mean) computed from a selected continuous variable. Each error bar is colored according to its group's computed value.
•Categorical variable: each level of the selected variable is assigned a color from the active color scheme. If a group in the axis variable corresponds to multiple levels of the color variable, it receives the color assigned to the "Undefined" level.
