How to turn off the Windows 7 warning when launching a network license of Prism.
If you purchase a network license of Prism, the Prism application is stored on a shared disk drive ("server") and launched from another computer. If the other computer uses Windows 7, Windows will pop up an alert: "Do you want to run this file?", warning you that the file might be potentially unsafe. This is part of Windows 7 security, and this message comes up whenever you try to launch a program from another computer. Click "Run" to start Prism. Unfortunately, that message comes up every time you launch Prism from a networked drive.
You can get rid of that message by fussing with Windows security settings:
- Go to: Control Panel->Network and Internet->Internet Options
- Choose the security tab
- Select Internet zone
- Click the custom level... button
- In the tree: choose Miscellaneous->Launching application and unsafe files
- Click the "Enable (not secure)" radio button
Of course, by changing the security setting, you will be removing it for all programs, making the computer potentially a bit less secure.
