Prism 6.0c can crash when layouts include graphs with embedded tables

Prism 6.0c crashes when displaying a layout, when a graph on that  layout includes one or more embedded table(s), and that graph has not been visited since the file was opened.

To avoid the problem:

  • Switch to the graph gallery before saving the file.  When you open the file, Prism has to display all the graphs, and does this before you have a chance to view any layouts, thus avoiding the bug.
  • Do not place graphs with embedded tables on layouts.
  • Place graphs with embedded tables on layout as picture rather than live link. To do this, you'd need to use a sceen capture program to capture a portion of the table as an image, which you could then paste onto the layout.

To fix a file that won't open:

  1. Open the file using Prism Windows (full or demo) or an older version of Prism Mac.
  2. Go to the graph gallery
  3. Save the file. Now Prism is forced to display all the graphs when it opens, bypassing the problem.

If you don't have access to Prism windows, send us the file and we'll do it for you.

We'll fix the underlying bug in 6.0d. Let us know if you'd like to beta test it.
