Known compatibility issues with macOS Sequoia (15.0)
This page contains all known compatibility issues between Prism and the new macOS Sequoia. These issues are not observed in macOS 14 Sonoma or older. These issues will be investigated and fixed in future updates of Prism, and this FAQ will be updated as these issues are resolved.
[Fixed] The Quick Look feature does not display Prism project contents
When using the Quick Look feature with a Prism file, the preview icon is shown instead of the project content. Graphs and layouts within the file cannot be viewed.
Why does this happen? Support for deprecated Quick Look Generator plugins is being removed by Apple.
Fix Version: Prism 10.4.0
[Fixed] Prism project windows overlap when using the window tiling (move and resize windows arrangement) feature
This issue can be observed by selecting "Top & Bottom", "Bottom & Top", or "Quarters"
Workarounds:
- If working with two projects, use "Left & Right" or "Right & Left" arrangements
- Increase screen resolution
Why does this happen? On smaller screens, window tiling causes Prism windows to shrink to their minimum vertical height. Since these windows cannot be made smaller, they overlap at the top/bottom.
Fix version: Prism 10.4.0
[Fixed] Prism Thumbnail Extension Crashes Affecting macOS Quick Look Feature
The Prism Thumbnail Extension may occasionally crash when using the macOS Quick Look feature, resulting in crash logs being generated in the DiagnosticsReports folder within Finder.
When accessing a folder containing one or more saved Prism files, crash reports can occur while thumbnails are being generated for these files simultaneously. These reports are stored in the ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports folder in Finder.
Despite the crashes, the extension can restart and continue generating thumbnails, which leads to the accumulation of multiple crash reports.
Visually, users will not notice any disruption in Prism; thumbnails remain visible, and users can continue to work with their Prism files without interruption.
Workaround for Prism 10.4.0: Disable the PrismThumbnailExtension by navigating to System Settings > Login Items & Extensions > Quick Look.
Why Does This Happen? - Apple has removed support for the deprecated QuickLook generator in macOS 15, which was previously used by Prism. In response, the Prism team has worked to migrate to the new Quick Look Preview Extension and Thumbnail Extension API. However, some inconsistencies arose during this migration, which have since been identified and resolved.
Fix Version: Prism 10.4.1.
[Fix Available] Issues related to cloud services cause Prism to crash or freeze unexpectedly after updating to macOS 15.0.1 Sequoia
After upgrading to macOS 15.0.1, users have reported that Sequoia is experiencing freezing issues in various applications when opening or saving files, including Prism.
For detailed user reports, please click here, here, and here.
Why does this happen?
The issues related to cloud services on macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 can be attributed to a combination of factors, primarily stemming from the complex interplay between the operating system, third-party software, and the underlying cloud services infrastructure. The majority of reported issues have been related to Microsoft OneDrive and Apple iCloud.
How to resolve it?
To resolve this issue, update your device to the latest version of macOS (version 15.1.1 or newer). The feedback from Prism users and our QA team indicates that this update successfully fixed the problem.
If you are unable to update your macOS version, some users have found solutions:
-
Disabling iCloud sync (navigate to System Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > Drive > Sync this Mac), as well as OneDrive's backup feature and/or Adobe Creative Cloud Sync.
-
Saving files to a folder that is not synced.
-
Completely uninstalling other cloud services from their Macs and then reinstalling them.
