How to get legends to be in front of a filled rectangle.
Drawing a rectangle around a group of legends works fine so long as its background remains clear. But if you give that rectangle a fill color, it will cover the legends. Selecting the legend and using View...Bring to front ought to solve the problem, but this doesn't work (up to Prism 5.01, fixed in 5.02). It seems to be impossible to put the legends on top of a filled rectangle.
Here is a work around to bring legends in front of all other objects:
- Double-click on a legend or symbol (bar) to bring up the Format Graph dialog (that is its name in Prism 5, it will have a different name with earlier Prism versions).
- Click the "All" button, then uncheck the option to show legends.
- Click OK and all the legends will be gone.
- Double-click again to bring back the Format Graph dialog.
- Click All, and check the option to show legends. Click OK, and the legends are back on he graph, but now are in front of all other objects on the page.
- Drag the legends onto a filled rectangle, and the legends will be on top.
