How to turn off the tool tips.

Prism displays tool tips (tiny windows that pop up to explain the context) in four situations:

  • Buttons in the toolbar (to explain what the button does).
  • Sheet names in navigator (to show you what that sheet looks like).
  • Data points or bars (to tell you their actual coordinates and which table, row, column it came from)
  • Graphs on a layout (to tell you the name of the graph and give you a link to go back to edit it).

You can turn off all these tool tips via a check box at the bottom of the View tab in Preferences. This was added in 6.02 and 6.0c.

One tip for Mac users. When you turn off the tool tips by unchecking the option, they don't always go away. Quit Prism, then restart it and the tool tips will be gone. We fixed that glitch in 6.0e.
