Icons for GraphPad Prism files

GraphPad Prism files have the extension .PZF or .PZFX. Usually these show with an appropriate program icon. If the icon is missing or incorrect, read on.

In both Windows and Mac OS X, the icon is defined by the extension and nothing else. There is no distinction between icons for files created by different versions of Prism.

When Prism launches, it tells Windows or Mac OS X what icon to use for Prism files and that it is the application to launch when someone double clicks on a file icon. That means that when you double click on an icon, the version of Prism that launches is the last one you used (if you have more than one on your computer).

If the icons are corrupted, it is not a Prism program but rather a problem with Windows or Mac OS X. To find methods to repair, search the web for "repair file icons" and include "windows" or "OS X" in your search and you'll find several methods.
