KNOWLEDGEBASE - ARTICLE #1256

My system hangs when I try to update GraphPad Prism (Windows) from 5.00 to 5.01.

The whole point of updating, of course, is to replace some of  the files in the Prism folder. Accordingly, the permission of that folder must be set to allow writing to it. Unfortunately, if the permissions are set to not allow changes to files, the automatic update system hangs rather than reporting an error message. The default location of the Prism folder is within the GraphPad folder within the Program Files folder. Change the permissions of that folder to allow changes, and the update will go smoothly.

If you still have problems, write support at graphpad.com and we can email you a link to get the full 5.01 installer, rather than the updater. Include your serial number with the request.

Updating a network license:

You cannot update the Prism program file on a server until all users have quit Prism. To check this, look in the licenses directory of the Prism program folder and make sure there are no files with an .lic extension. These indicate that someone is using the program.
