Prism 7 and proxy servers

Prism 7 connects the internet on startup to verify your license. In rare cases where you have a proxy server set up, this will not work with Prism 7.00. When starting Prism it says "Please wait" and then doesn't respond. We will fix for 7.01.

There are two ways around this problem:

One way is to create a proxy exception for the graphpad.com domain, so that any request to *.graphpad.com would not require authentication. Your IT or network person should know how to do this for your configuration.

The other way is to take advantage of the fact that Prism 7 can silently use proxy credentials that were entered and remembered in the Internet Explorer when an appropriate prompt for proxy credentials appeared. To do this follow these steps, which require technical knowledge about proxy servers:

  1. Go to the Internet Options control panel.
  2. Go to the Connections tab.
  3. Select the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box.
  4. In the Address box, type the address of the proxy server.
  5. In the Port box, type the port number.
  6. OK out of the control panel.
  7. Launch Internet Explorer and go to any url.  Use www.graphpad.com  if you need a suggestion.
  8. A Windows security alert will pop up, and ask you to log on to your server.
  9. Enter the appropriate username and password for the proxy server, and check the option to remember your credentials.
  10. Now you should be able to launch Prism.
