Prism freezes or crashes after copying text or selecting sheet objects from a layout in extremely large Prism files

The issue

Prism may freeze or crash after copying text or making selections within a layout sheet within a Prism document. In the event that Prism crashes, this may result in losing the latest changes made to the file.

Why does this issue occur?

The issue is related to the way Prism handles documents with complex layouts, especially those containing large or multiple imported images (e.g., files with image sizes in the tens of megabytes).

This problem has been observed in Prism versions 10.1.0 and later, with some behavioral differences between versions. There is no evidence that hardware contributes to the issue, as it persists across different devices.

What are the workarounds?

• Remove imported images from the file to prevent freezing or crashing
• Work with a simplified version of the file, reducing the size of imported images or overall Prism's file size and layout complexity where possible

Is there a fix?

The Prism development team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix for future versions of Prism.
