Tips for managing large GraphPad Prism projects.
Prism lets you combine lots of data tables, info sheets, analysis results, graphs and layouts in one project file. Here are some hints for managing a large file (some of these tips only apply to Prism 5 or later):
- Consider using smaller files. Note that you can create a page layout with graphs from several projects.
- Highlight sheets you want to come back to. Click the yellow marker icon in the upper left of the Sheet section of the toolbar, and the sheet name will be highlighted in the navigator. With Prism 7, you can highlight different sheets in different colors.
- Reorder the sheets in the navigator to a logical order. Simply drag and drop.
- Delete obsolete sheets.
- Add floating notes to selected sheets. Create a floating note by clicking the pushpin icon and choose a color. The bottom of the navigator has a section showing only sheets with notes, preceded by color coded icons. Even if the floating notes are blank. the color coding can help you find a sheet again.
- Pay attention to which sheets are bold in the navigator. The bold sheets are linked to the current sheet.
- Use the Family folder at the top the navigator, which shows only sheets linked to the current sheet.
- Use the Data+Results folder in the navigator which helps you track a chain of analyses. Enable this option from the top of the View tab of the Preferences dialog.
- Use the ping-pong button in the bottom toolbar to jump back and forth between two sheets.
