Graph Colors and Transparency Issue on macOS 27 in GraphPad Prism
The issue
When attempting to change colors or adjust opacity/transparency in GraphPad Prism on macOS 27, selections made using the Color Wheel, Color Sliders, Image Palettes, or Pencils in the system Color dialog do not apply and immediately reset when closing or exiting the dialog.
This issue impacts all dialogs in Prism where the native macOS 'Colors' window is invoked (for example, Format Graph, Plotting Area Color & Transparency, etc.) across Prism versions running on macOS 27. The issue does not reproduce on macOS 26 or earlier.
Why does this issue occur?
This issue is caused by a compatibility problem introduced in macOS 27 that affects how certain color selector views (Color Wheel, Sliders, Image Palettes, and Pencils) return color values to the application, causing custom color and opacity selections from those tabs not to be applied upon closing the color panel.
What are the workarounds?
While an update is being prepared, you can set colors using any of the following working methods within the 'Colors' dialog:
-
Use the Color Palettes tab (middle tab): The third tab from the left (Color Palettes) continues to apply colors normally.
-
Use the Eyedropper / Pipette tool: Click the magnifying glass/pipette icon at the bottom of the Color dialog to sample and apply any color directly from your screen.
-
Use the Custom / Saved Color Swatches: Select a color from the saved swatch wells at the bottom of the Color dialog, or drag a desired color swatch into one of the bottom squares and apply it from there.
Is there a fix?
This issue will be resolved in an upcoming Prism 11.2.0 version. (build 311 and newer).
Update to Prism 11.2.0: Once available, update directly via Help > Check for updates in Prism or download the latest version from the GraphPad Updates page.
