Error message: "Unable to open file. It may have been moved or deleted..."

Prism will give the message "Unable to open file" in these situations:

  • You clicked on a file name from the Welcome or File Open dialog (from either Prism win or mac), but that file was recently moved, renamed or deleted so it no longer exists at the specified location.
  • Using either Win or Mac versions of Prism, you are trying to open a file located on a shared drive, but someone else has already opened that file from Prism Mac. You won't be able to open the file, until the other user closes it.
  • You are trying to open a file with Prism Windows from a drive on a Mac, and the file name includes a question mark or any other punctuation allowed on Macs but not Windows.
