Using GraphPad Prism Windows with Korean, Chinese, Japanese etc. fonts

Some tips to make Prism work better with various language fonts:

1. The characters are displayed correctly in Prism only when Windows runs under the appropriate (i.e. Korean) system locale. To check system locale: Control Panel -> Region and Language -> Administrative tab -> Language for non-Unicode programs: Select Korean and restart computer.

2. Asian language input looks OK even with default Arial font in data, info and results tables, floating notes and navigator panel, but not in graphs and layouts. Changing font to one that supports that language fixes the issue. For example, choose Arial Unicode MS.

  • for existing graphs and layouts with corrupted characters, select the corrupted text object(s) and change the font to 'Arial Unicode MS' via Toolbar;
  • to make future graphs look OK with Korean text, invoke Preferences dialog (Edit -> Preferences...), switch to 'New Graphs' tab, observe 'Fonts' frame and change font where needed.

3. If characters are corrupted in data, info or results tables, floating notes or navigator panel, it may help to change corresponding fonts in 'View' tab of Prism Preferences dialog. Note that you select the font in a large area at the top of the dialog, but also select the script at the bottom. You may need to change both.
