Problems using the Magic Mouse with Prism Mac

"The Magic Mouse is sold by Apple for use with Macs. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work perfectly with Mac Prism 6 and 7.0a-7.0d running under macOS 10.12-10.13.”

Sometimes using the Shape drop-down menu in the Format Graph dialog or Drawing Shape drop-down menu on the toolbar to select one of the shapes may not work as expected.

 .

There are two issues:

  • After clicking to drop-down the panel of choices, that panel instantly goes away so you can't make any choices. This happens when you slightly move the mouse during the click or when the delay between pressing and releasing the mouse button is very short.
  • Click-drag-release does not work for the Shape and Drawing Shape drop-down menus, although it does work or other controls, for example, the Size drop-down menu. You need to click once to drop the panel of choices and then click a second time to choose one of the symbols or shapes.

The workaround is:

  • Be sure to make two accurate mouse clicks - click once to drop the menu of shapes, then click again to choose one. Don't click too fast and avoid moving the mouse pointer while clicking.
