What does "[Compatibility Mode]" mean?

Windows lets you run applications in compatibility mode. This helps older programs run on newer versions of Windows, as Windows pretends (to that application) to be an older version.

When you run in compatibility mode, that phrase appears next to the application name, in the title bar of the window.

To remove compatibility mode:

  1. Select prism.exe (or any other application) in Windows explorer
  2. Right-click prism.exe
  3. Select "Properties" in the context menu
  4. Go to the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties dialog.
  5. Choose not to run Prism in compatibility mode
