Why doesn't Prism report chi-square from the Kruskal-Wallis test?
The Kruskal-Wallis test is a nonparametric test to compare three or more groups. It is sometimes called nonparametric one-way ANOVA.
The discrepancies among the rank sums are combined to create a single value that Prism reports as the Kruskal-Wallis statistic. A large Kruska-Wallis statistic corresponds to a large discrepancy among rank sums, so a small P value.
Some books refer to this value as H. Since the distribution of the Kruskal-Wallis statistic approximately follows the chi-square statistic, some books refer to it as chi-square.
