Introducing New GraphPad Prism Plans
Last Updated: 20 August 2024
What's New
We recently launched new subscription plans to better fit your needs, since one size does not fit all. Our new plans provide modern license management, new analyses and graphs, and collaboration capabilities tiered for different needs. We are also developing many exciting future capabilities for these plans.
You may be on a Legacy license today if you have a:
- Perpetual, non-subscription license key like GP9-6541968-NYT2-#####
- Subscription Serial Number license like a GPS-9872345-LAT1-#####
You can continue to use your Legacy license, but we encourage you to consider upgrading to take advantage of the new capabilities.
Our new subscription plans continue to offer options for students, individual researchers and groups, and introduce an Enterprise plan for organizations with more complex needs. The new plans include:
- Named-user licenses with email login for activation - serial numbers no longer needed!
- Up to 2 computers per user - users can now manage activations themselves
- User and device management tools for Group and Enterprise plans
- Streamlined activation with Single Sign On (SSO) and user provisioning (SCIM) for Enterprise plans
- Collaboration with Prism Cloud - in beta, not available in all regions
- New Power & Sample Size analyses with multiple experimental designs - part of Prism Cloud
- (Enterprise plan) New Machine Learning techniques
- (Enterprise plan add-on) Dotmatics Luma Integration for unifying data and workflows across applications
- And more - see full comparison below

Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I consider upgrading?
By upgrading, you can immediately ease the burden of managing users and devices, and empower your users with the best and latest tools for their research.
How can I determine if I’m on a Legacy or New license?
Start by looking for your original Prism activation email, instructions from your Group administrator or by logging into My Account if you are the purchaser of your subscription. If your license uses a Serial Number for activation (e.g. GPS-9872345-LAT1-#####), you are currently on a Legacy Plan.
Is my existing Legacy license going away?
No, we are continuing to support legacy licenses for the time being.
Will I stop receiving bug fixes and improvements on my existing license?
No, we will continue to deliver fixes and improvements across all licenses, but some newer capabilities will be reserved for the new plans.
Can I get access to specific features in the new subscription plans with my legacy license?
No, you must upgrade your license to a new plan.
Can I trial the new subscription plans?
Yes, you can start a free trial online (if you haven’t done a trial before) for the features available to new regular Personal licenses. Please note that Group and Enterprise plan features are not included in the online trial, and are only available for groups. If you would like to trial the new licenses and Enterprise capabilities for a group, please contact us.
How can I upgrade to the new plans?
If you are the purchaser of an active Personal or Group Legacy subscription, please contact us for next steps. If you have an expired subscription or perpetual license, you may purchase a new subscription on our Pricing page. If you are not the purchaser, please ask your Group administrator to get in touch with us.
How much does the upgrade cost?
Upgrades for Student and Personal licenses are free. We also offer convenient academic and corporate pricing options for existing Groups. Contact us to get started.
Can I purchase Prim Enterprise for my personal use?
No, the Prism Enterprise plan is for groups only at this time, and offers license management tools across an entire organization. We are planning to offer new personal plans with the more advanced analyses in the future. Interested? Contact us
What does the upgrade process involve? Will my existing license immediately cease to function?
The upgrade process is designed to ensure a smooth transition. After purchasing your upgrade, you will have access to a new Named-user license and can start assigning seats immediately. Your existing license will continue to work for a 60-day grace period to ensure that your users can re-activate with the new license at their convenience. The overlap of the two licenses is handy for the transitional period.
How does new license activation work?
It’s easy and only takes a couple of minutes. Whether you upgrade to a new individual or group plan, the process is:
- Update to the latest Prism version
- In Prism, deactivate your existing license by going to Settings/Preferences > Account. Or delete your existing license file following these instructions for Windows or Mac.
- Activate using the Email Sign In option
How do I manage seats for my group?
We have improved My Account so that you can manage your list of users by email (similar to other named-user software), and can review device activations for each user.
Unlike the Legacy licensing plans, you no longer need to worry about deactivating computers, re-used MachineIDs and other challenges with devices that get repurposed or are disposed of. Your end users will be able to manage their 2 activations themselves, and replace devices when needed.
When a user joins or leaves your organization, simply add their email for them to automatically receive activation instructions, or remove them to revoke access immediately.
Enterprise plan customers can use Single Sign On (SSO) to simplify and secure authentication, and SCIM to centrally provision and deprovision users.
Which SSO and SCIM options do you support?
Available on our Enterprise plan, we integrate with a variety of major Identity Providers and Directories such as Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta, JumpCloud, OneLogin and Shibboleth using the SAML 2.0, OIDC and SCIM 2.0 protocols. Set up is a breeze and managed via My Account. Contact us to learn more.
Can I add/remove users from my group license?
Yes, our new named-user seats offer fair use limits for repurposing purchased seats as users join or depart your organization. Please note that these are not concurrent or floating licenses, and seats must still be purchased for all expected users during your license term.
Is Prism Cloud secure?
Yes, Prism Cloud was designed from the ground up to ensure data security and user privacy. Learn more about our security best practices.
Can I opt-out of Prism Cloud if my organization does not allow it?
Yes, please contact us to discuss your situation.
Do the new plans support deploying Prism in virtualized desktop environments (VDI) like VMware, Citrix and others?
Virtualized use is not allowed with our regular Legacy and New plans. We offer options for Enterprise customers, subject to infrastructure and deployment evaluation. Contact us
